10 short alpine pasture hikes in Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino

The alp is more than just a place and is simply part of the summer in the Alps. All those, who arrive on the mountain pasture enjoy a feeling of freedom: you have managed the ascent, the woods are clearing and often you can also enjoy a fascinating view. The enjoyment also continues in the mountain huts, where delicious traditional dishes are served. Here are ten short alpine pasture hikes with a walking time of no more than 3 hours: in Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino – 10 times alpine pasture enjoyment for all!

  1. Kreuzwiesenalm mountain hut (Tyrol)

    This hike above the Zillertal valley has only a slight incline (difference in altitude 240 m) and a total walking time of 2.5 hours. The Schmankerlweg path (Schmankerl = titbit) leads to the Kreuzwiesenalm mountain hut, where you can enjoy Tyrolean delicacies. Highlights for children: the spruce castle, an adventure park made of wood, at the starting point at the Rosenalm.

  2. Hochthörle-Hütte mountain hut (Tyrol)

    This walking tour leads to the area of the Zugspitze. The Hochthörlehütte mountain hut (1,480 m a.s.l.) can be reached in approx. 75 minutes from Obermoos at the valley station of the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn cable car. A little further on is the viewpoint Eibseeblick, from where you can enjoy a look on the Eibsee lake, one of the most beautiful lakes of Germany.

  3. Navis alpine pastures hike (Tyrol)

    An easy to medium-difficult circular hike through meadows and forests. In 3 hours walking time the Navis alpine pastures hike in the Tux mountains leads to 3 alpine pastures: Peer-Alm, Poltenalm and Stöcklalm.

  4. Walk across the alpine pastures of Aldino (South Tyrol)

    A very popular hike on the Monte Regolo (Regglberg) is the walk across the alpine pastures of Aldino. Starting at Lerch the path leads you to the Malga bel riposo, Lahneralm and Schmieder Alm mountain huts. Near the Lahneralm, the visitors‘ centre of the Geoparc Bletterbach is located, which is definitely worth a visit!

  5. To the Valle d‘Altafossa valley (South Tyrol)

    The destination of this hike are the Pranterstadelhütte and the Wieserhütte mountain huts at the head of the idyllic Valle d‘Altafossa valley. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there starting at the parking space above Maranza. The path proceeds along the Großbergbach stream amidst blooming meadows. If you want to hike a little further, you will reach the Seefeldsee in an hour.

  6. Hike from Plan to the Malga Lazins (South Tyrol)

    Starting point of this hike is Plan in the back Val Passiria valley. From there you can reach the Lazins Alm mountain hut, which is located in the heart of the Tessa Group Nature Park, in about one hour walking time. At the hut you can enjoy a strengthening meal combined with a fantastic view on the Cima Altissima mountain (Hohe Wilde) and the surrounding alpine world.

  7. Marzon Mountain Hut (South Tyrol)

    Starting in Montefranco above Castelbello in the Val Venosta valley, the hiking path no. 7 leads through woods and meadows to the Marzon Mountain Hut in about 2 hours. It is also possible to drive by car until the Montefranco Saw. From there, the barrier-free path up to the mountain hut can be managed in only 30 minutes.

  8. Sennes Mountain Hut (South Tyrol)

    The fantastic view on the surrounding Dolomites characterises this hike. Starting point is the Pederü Mountain Hut above San Vigilio di Marebbe, where you take the former military road. Between rocks and alpine meadows you reach the Sennes Mountain Hut. Afterwards you can continue to Ütia Fodara Vedla, an ensemble of small wooden huts and a chapel.

  9. Monte Sole Mountain Hut (Trentino)

    A beautiful circular walk in the Val di Rabbi valley in the Stelvio National Park leads you to the Malga Monte Sole, Malga Villar and Malga Cercen Bassa mountain huts. In 3 hours walking time 520 metres in altitude have to be managed. At the Malga Monte Sole you can enjoy organic dishes and catch some sun on the lawn.

  10. Hike to the Regole di Malosco meadows (Trentino)

    From the Passo Mendola mountain pass near Ruffré it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the meadows of the Regole di Malosco. Only at the beginning the path is steep, soon it runs flat and descends at the end.
